XRP Ledger set for a complete overhaul with 8 modifications

RippleX – the development arm of Ripple Labs – announced earlier today that nearly 80% of servers have already been upgraded to the latest version of XRP Ledger software, ripped v2.3.0. This update, which is poised to introduce eight new modifications, represents one of the most comprehensive overhauls of the ledger to date.

According to the official Documents On the XRPL Blog, Ripped version 2.3.0 brings not only new features – such as Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs), Credentials and Clawback support for Automated Market Makers (AMMs) – but also a significant set of stability fixes. RippleX urged server operators to upgrade “as soon as possible” to avoid disruption.

The upgrade introduces eight amendments that are still open for voting, reflecting XRPL’s decentralized governance model. Under this model, an amendment must have the support of more than 80% of trusted validators within a two-week period before it can be adopted. New features and fixes include:

XLS-70 Credentials: This amendment introduces “the ability to issue ledger credentials and use those credentials to pre-approve incoming payments when using a deposit license.” Operators can create a DepositPeauth object associated with a specific issuer, and only those “authorized by the specific issuer (and obtaining credentials from them) will be allowed to send payments.”

XLS-33 Multi-Purpose Tokens: This feature creates a new form of fungible tokens optimized for institutional DeFi, such as stablecoins. It is designed to expand use cases by providing more flexibility in how tokens are issued and managed.

XLS-37 AMM Payback: Designed to facilitate Tokens that support redemption Within the AMM ecosystem, this amendment provides “adequate guardrails” for those who need the option to redeem tokens from liquidity pools under specific circumstances.

XLS-52 NFTokenMintOffer: This allows an NFT sale offer to be created as part of a new NFT mint. By combining mining and listing into a single transaction, the ledger aims to simplify NFT related operationsQ.

Fix AMMv1_2: Addresses two errors in processing Automated Market Maker (AMM) transactions. This ensures more robust behavior when executing AMM-related transactions.

FixNFTokenPageLinks: It addresses an issue that “can cause missing links in NFT directories” and introduces a transaction mechanism to repair any corrupted state in the ledger.

FixEnforceNFTokenTrustline: Fixes “two bugs in the interaction between NFT offers and trust lines,” improving NFT offer management and trust line consistency.

FixInnerObjTemplate2: Standardize “the way internal objects are enforced across all transaction data and ledgers.” This creates greater uniformity and predictability in the validation of ledger data.

In addition, there is a partially implemented mod named InvariantsV1_1, which is not open for voting yet. Its initial focus is to ensure that “ledger entries owned by the account are deleted when the account is deleted,” among other upcoming safeguards.

The new version also discontinues some features. The history portions have been removed, with RippleX advising that those needing a deeper history of the ledger should move to the Clio server.
The reporting mode has also been removed, as part of ongoing efforts to simplify the system.

Additional improvements include “allowing configuration of the SQLite database page size” and library improvement to libxrpl “to provide a list of known modifications”. Multiple bugs have also been addressed, ranging from AMM crash scenarios and race conditions to inconsistencies in some API methods.

At press time, XRP was trading at $2.30.
