The issues of the government of Kuwait warn that 1,000 sites have found illegal encoded currency

The Ministry of Interior in Kuwait issued a warning against cryptocurrency mining, after electricity use data indicated that more than 1,000 sites in the Gulf nation may run mining platforms.
The coding mining has been illegal in Kuwait since July 2023, when the Capital and Markets Authority issued a circular prohibiting all encrypted currency activity, including transfers and trading.
The discovery of the use of abnormal electricity has reaffirmed this ban, and writing in the declaration that mining is “unlicensed activity and a direct violation of the boycott law.”
However, Kuwait has some of the lowest electricity prices in the world, and it appears that the relatively low energy cost is a temptation for some population, as the government highlights many negative results.
The ministry also writes, “[mining] It also causes power outages in residential and commercial areas and services, in a way that poses a threat to public safety and disrupts the provision of regular basic services. “
The government administration – which is responsible for the police and public security, used its warning to invite “violators to correct their positions immediately,” which threatens the prosecution “according to the laws in force” if they fail to do so.
Warning from the Ministry of Interior is part of a common effort with many other government agencies, including the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, which also managed to determine the use of highly high electricity in 100 homes in the Al -Wafra area.
According to the spokesperson for the ministry, Fatima Jawhar Hayat, the homes that have been marked are constantly exposed and with an abnormal high use over 24 hours a day, which differs from the typical styles of homes.
She said: “In some cases, consumption exceeded 100,000 kilowatt hours during March 2025-20 twice the model use of neighboring homes.”
It is not clear what happened to the 100 -homes that have been identified, yet Hayat added that the ministry will continue to monitor electricity consumption throughout Kuwait.
According to the Electricity Consumption Index at Cambridge Bitcoin, Kuwait formed 0.05 % of the total retail in Bitcoin in 2022, one year before its financial regulator banned cryptocurrency.
Although there is no reliable data on encryption ownership in Kuwait since the ban on 2023, there is evidence that the Kuwaiti public continues to trade digital assets.
Recently, a frauds called Bitcoin Kuwait led to the loss of retailers about $ 40 million, after the price collapsed as soon as it was launched in January.
This fraud was the subject of general complaints from the researcher, Dr. Dakhda Zaman on X, who highlighted the failure to enforce Kuwait’s ban on the activities of encrypted currency, and who called for strengthening the government’s position on encryption.
I wrote, “Where is the supervision, where is the legislation, and where is the fraud?”
