IMIDRO is leading the development of 2,300 MW of power capacity for the mining and metallurgical industries

TEHRAN – The Director of Infrastructure at the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renewal Organization (IMIDRO) announced that 2,300 megawatts of power needed for mining and metallurgy industries has been successfully commissioned as part of infrastructure development in this sector within the framework of the Mines and Mineral Industries Development Project. According to IRNA, Manijeh Gholam Rezaei stated that the IMDRO infrastructure sector has a variety of responsibilities, including planning and providing the necessary long-term infrastructure for the mining and metallurgy industries in areas such as water, electricity, gas and transportation.

She added that in the electricity sector, after the law removing obstacles to the electricity industry, and in response to the needs of the industry, the construction of the necessary power generation plants began in 2022.

Currently, under Imidro’s leadership, there are 6,600 MW of power plants under construction by mining and minerals companies, with 2,300 MW of this capacity already commissioned as of last month. It is expected that this number will reach 2,500 megawatts by the end of this year. In the long term, these efforts are expected to lead to the construction of 10,000 MW power plants.
