Mary L. (Midge) Blakeman | News, sports, jobs

HANCOCK – Mary L. (Midge) Blakeman of Hancock passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Mission Point of Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past year.

Mary was born in Hancock, November 13, 1937, to Edward and Eleanor (Shaff) O’Connor, and was a graduate of Hancock High School.

With the exception of twelve years, she spent her entire life in the Copper Country.

On October 23, 1981, she married Dallas Blackman.

She was a member of Hancock Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Blackman worked as a nurse’s assistant for many years and was always willing to help anyone in need throughout her life. She enjoyed time with her family and friends, knitting, playing dominoes or working on puzzles.

She is survived by her children, Judy Niemi of Chassell, Gene (Brian) Riota of Liminga, Jerry (Kathy) Bury of Atlantic Maine, Chris Wells of Madison, Wisconsin, and Sam (Amy) Bury of Sheridan, Wyoming. stepdaughter Denise (Scott) Gillenwater of Sheridan, WY; her daughters-in-law, Kim Burry and Shelley Burry; Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. her sister, Nancy (Jerry) Craven of Simpsonville, South Carolina; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her parents preceded her in death. her husband, Dallas Blakeman; her sons, Michael, Dennis and Timothy; her brother-in-law, Dale Niemi; stepdaughters Debra Cole and Tonya Maronek; Her sister, Patricia Johnson, and her brother, Edward O’Connor
