The Russian Ministry of Energy is considering expanding the scope of coding mining ban to additional areas

April 24, 2025 – (Moscow), according to what was stated in the Russian Ministry of Energy, imposing a coding mining ban in three other regions, citing pressure on local electricity networks. According to a spokesman for Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, a government committee may approve the new restrictions early May, which may affect parts of Carlet in northwestern Russia, Penza Oblast, and the areas of Khakasia in southern Siberia.

On April 7, Moscow presented its first embargo throughout the year on encryption mining, and the prohibition of activity in the southern part of IRKUTSK Oblast until 2031. Irkutsk, known as the leading Russia in Bitcoin (BTC), was a pivotal point in industrial comrades. Meanwhile, in areas such as Buryatia and Transbaikalia, the government issued instructions to miners to reduce their platforms during peak periods to demand energy.

Earlier this year, on January 1, Moscow banned encryption mining during the winter months across 10 Russian and Russian regions controlled by Russian, including parts of southern Siberia and North Caucasus. This step shed light on increased concerns about energy consumption and network stability during cold seasons.

Andrei Maximov, head of the Ministry of Energy to develop the electric energy industry, stressed that the “expansion” in the mining ban is under study. He pointed out that officials in “several regions” expressed their interest in providing restrictions, although he refused to determine whether these seasonal measures or throughout the year were.

In Carlia, industrial miners suggested that alternative methods, such as high tariffs and increased tax rates, could be more effective than an explicit ban. Sergey Maxakov, Chairman of the Economy, Tax and Finance Committee in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Carlia, chanted this feeling, stressing the possibility of financial measures to regulate the sector without prohibiting it completely.

The Ministry of Energy has not yet ended any decisions on more restrictions, as officials leave the door open to explore other regulatory measures.
