From new models for managing cases to bitcoin mining, how the elderly care role grows profits

For nursing providers, lean times require extracting financial gains not only by using new service lines but also more effective value -based care options, with thinking outside the box to apply multiple uses of technology that is currently published.
Nicole Kaufman, chief transformation employee in Genesis, emphasized the importance of clinical integration and publishing the management of third-party cases to address a large volume of complex referrals-a step that was very useful in maximizing the payment of the institution.
In Genesis, the focus on clinical integration is used by facility assessments to direct work plans and compatible with hospital systems to improve patient care and partnerships. Kaufman said that the goal is to increase revenues by targeting specific types of patients, improving the quality of care, and partnership with service providers, while ensuring that patients are safely disposing without complications.
While we think about revenue flows, we only tend to follow more privacy, and frankly, where we see the margin [growth is] With some types of patients based on our payment, based on our strength in care, delivery, and services that we provide, so that we can get the best price. “
The Bennsylvania -based Genesis is one of the largest after acute sponsorships in the United States, with a group of approximately 180 skilled nursing centers and great living societies in 17 states.
A committee discussed at the SNN’s Rethink Conference, which includes Kaufman and Heritage Operation, Steve Hart, for skilled nursing providers as a hub for the future, not only to manage third -party cases and clinical integration but technology in very unique ways.
Perhaps the most novel proposal is how the role of the elderly can engage in bitcoin mining. While healthcare organizations may not directly participate in cryptocurrency mining, Blockchain technology – a type of digital professor’s book – is said to have a type of digital professor – to manage safe and transparent data useful for the sector. However, the process is difficult, and it needs expensive equipment, which uses a lot of energy – and releases abundant heat.
Hart said this heat should not be lost, however, which leads to the gains of reducing the heating bill in the facility while bitcoin mining.
Heritage, based in Illinois, owns more than 40 senior care facilities throughout the state, including skilled nursing. Last year, the heritage passed through a major reset by selling 22 from 44 SNFS.
High referral size management, standardization of care
To alleviate issues from a large number of referrals-which can make it difficult to accept and clinical teams manage them in view of multiple ACOS participation, combined payments, and third-party service providers-Genesis Cooperation with External Cases Management Group to help simplify care planning.
While Genesis is still some cases of cases at home, according to Kofmann, its organization also relied on external experts to direct doctors and medical managers to understand the details of each sick agreement, ensuring that the teams focus on providing good care without being overwhelmed by administrative complexity.
In New Mexico, for example, the organization receives about 1000 referrals per month from various favorite provid networks, including ACOS and those led by doctors or hospitals. Kaufman said that the amazing number of referrals made it difficult to accept in Genesis, social services and clinical teams to manage the flow effectively.
Thus we were losing some nuances in [dealing with say] Eight patients today, with five different ACOS, three different packages, and two favorite service providers. She said about the dilemma.
This led to a training travel partnership with a third -party managing group.
“Although we still have some cases management within our organization, we rely on experts to really help lead what we need to know, what our doctors need to care for a plan, and what our medical managers need to understand about this package or that package, so that we can use experience closest to the bed.”
As for heritage, compatibility with ACOS was useful in standardizing care.
“[ACOs] He said: “It is very important that the incentives are in line with quality, you must put yourself in clinical processes.”
Uses of creative technology and bitcoin mining
Increase in technology is also important to unify clinical care.
Hart explained that technology has improved the nutritional needs that have been seized in heritage, and reducing negative accidents, such as suffocating rings, by allowing close tracking of patients ’meals without misunderstanding of the needs.
“We have seen an increasing number of suffocation rings when individuals were eating in their rooms. What we found as a fundamental cause is that the nurse who received this diet may not have been transferred to the kitchen, and [the resident] “The type of diet,” he said, using technology, helped us eliminate the need for this connection and created a more powerful system. “
Sometimes, extremist times require extremist strategies. With the homes of the elderly welfare with operational changes to treat the lean era for financing, Hart is stampede of using creative solutions such as using the heat produced in bitcoin mining, which is an intensive energy process.
At Heritage, Hart said that the company expects to extract energy benefits from placing bitcoin mining equipment next to the facility boilers.
He said: “We can use excess heat from data processing to Bitcoin without additional energy costs.”
This reinses the heat to a potential flow of revenue, depending on the use of the boiler and the future economy.
“There are today’s systems where you can put the ability to minimize data mainly next to your boiler and without cost, you spend the exact amount of energy.” “[That’s] An interesting way to produce something new, take a product product and turn it into a source of revenue. ”
