On Wednesday, the revenue committee of the Legislative Commission in Nebraska looked at the imposition of taxes on electricity used in the encrypted currency industry.
Senator Mike Jacobson presented legislation, LB526At the request of Jim Belllen Governor.
The draft law will set a tax tax on a hundred per kilowatts per hour on the electricity used in the coded currency mining operations. These processes use energy -thirsty devices to verify encryption transactions. The encryption miners are then rewarded with an encrypted currency for their efforts.
Jacobson said that the inch tax is necessary to maintain electricity for other industries. He said that the general energy area in Nebraska calculates about half of the electricity that is provided with Kirni to the coded currency mining operations.
“This is about using electricity,” he said. “It is not a single currency. One penny per kilowatt hour will not compel the workers of cryptocurrencies outside the state.”
The bill opponents, like Matthew Carson of AAIM DATA CENTERS Inc. said. In Aurora, the draft law can cause technology companies with bitcoin mining operations like it.
He said: “The Senate Law 526 draft will witness that the state of Nebraska is simply distinguished because of how it works, and forced me to leave a place of Azza.”
The Revenue Committee will determine whether the draft law will be sent to the full legislative committee for discussion.
